I'm not sure where the idea for Breaking Jake came from. When I write stories I like to explore the way people can react to situations, human nature I suppose. Brad Adams is a man who appreciates the simple things in life, he has his own business as a mechanic, his own house, and considers himself a lucky man to have attracted his beautiful fiancée, Carla. They live in a village where the pace of life is slow, but it suits him, although he is unaware of Carla's plans for their future.
Then his brother turns up after six years of unexplained absence and Brad is pleased to see him, but Jake is obviously worried about something and is seeking Brad's advice. All is fine until he introduces Jake to Carla and realises the two of them have issues from the past.
Not long after Jake's return, a senseless and horrific double murder takes place, and suddenly a community used to getting along with each other, is now suspicious and frightened. And ready to point the finger at one of their own. Sides are taken, people are angry and talk of taking matters into their own hands. People Brad could once call friends are now forming a vigilante group and gunning for Jake - who swears he is innocent.
Brad and Jake find themselves right in the centre of it, and then Carla makes an accusation of her own that throws Brad's world upside down.
Suddenly he is in a race against time to save the brother he isn't so sure he wants to save.
